Yoast SEO Premium is worth it if you are a serious blogger or want to be a professional blogger. The extra features that you get for $89 will help you rank high in the search engines.
In this post I talked to you about the free version of Yoast SEO: How to set up the Yoast SEO WordPress plugin.
But now let me tell you about the premium version of Yoast SEO, is it worth it?
What is Yoast SEO Premium?
Yoast SEO Premium is essentially a few important extra features of this WordPress plugin.
The extra features are:
- Internal linking suggestions
- Internal linking blocks
- Content insights
- The redirect manager
- Seamless integration of Yoast SEO in Elementor
- Automation of your publishing flow in Yoast SEO
- Focus keyword export
- 1-year free access to 24/7 support
Ok, let me tell you I don’t use all of these extra features. For that reason I am only going to give you my opinion about the ones I use.
Also, I want to remind you that, like I said in this post: Search Engine Optimization Tutorial for Beginners, a WordPress plugin is just a little help in your SEO efforts.
You could say, if an SEO WordPress plugin is just a little help, why pay for Yoast SEO Premium?
I would say because it helps. Yes, Yoast SEO Premium helps with 404 redirects. I mean, you won´t need another WordPress plugin and if you use the Yoast SEO content insights, you can get more insights with this premium version.
Trust me, if you are a serious blogger or if you want to be a professional blogger, Yoast SEO Premium is an excellent investment and it is worth it.
And last but not least, Yoast SEO Premium is ad-free and I like that.
Ok, now let me tell you about the features of Yoast SEO Premium that I like.
Yoast SEO Premium: the features
Ok, let me tell you about the feature I like most:
The redirect manager
Why do I like the redirect manager? When you delete a page or post in WordPress it is not completely deleted. Maybe Google will still show the URL of that page or post.
If a user clicks on that URL, the user will see a 404 error, and that is not good for user experience (UX).
To avoid that, every time you delete a post or a page you have to do a redirect, and it’s very easy with Yoast SEO Premium.
The redirect can be to a new page or post or to the home.
As you can see you only need to write the old URL and replace it with the new URL.
And also you can see that the default redirect is the 301, but you have many options.
What I like about this feature is that if I change the words in the URL (permalink) the redirection is automatic.
Another great option in the redirect feature is that it is easy to import the redirected URLs from another plugin.
For that, you have to go to Tools and look for Import redirects.
There you have to choose the best option for you:
- Import from other redirect plugins
- Import from a CSV file
- Import redirects from .htaccess
I was using a plugin that is currently an option and with just one click I could transfer all the redirects to Yoast SEO Premium.
For me, this is a very helpful tool for SEO.
Internal linking suggestions
Internal linking is very important for search engine optimization (SEO). Some SEO experts say that it is as equally important as link building.
That is the reason why I link to previous posts in this one, and in older posts I link to this one.
The goal is to create strong internal linking in my blog.
Yoast SEO Premium helps with internal linking by giving suggestions. If you have a website with a good amount of pages or a blog with 50 or more posts, trust me, this feature will help you.
Keyword optimization is a key element of SEO. If a WordPress plugin can give you more options, the better for you.
In the free version of the Yoast SEO plugin you can only do the optimization for one keyword, but in the premium version you can do the optimization for up to five keywords.
My recommendation for you, if you want to do the optimization for more than one keyword, is not to despair if you don’t get the green light that Yoast shows when everything is ok.
For example, in this post the keyword is Yoast SEO Premium and the second keyword is Yoast SEO.
Every keyword has its own ranking score.
It is good that with this Premium version you can have up to five keywords to optimize.
Orphaned content is all the content in your website or blog (posts and pages) that doesn’t get any links from other posts or pages on the same website or blog.
Why is it important to know if you have orphaned content on your website or blog?
Because it can be bad for your SEO efforts. Remember that search engines find new content through links.
If you don’t have any link pointed to that new content (post or page) it will be difficult to find and index it for the search engines.
It is normal when you have a website or blog to create new content and forget to link this new content.
That is why Yoast SEO Premium’s orphaned content check is important.
The orphaned content check will let you know when a post or page doesn’t have a link pointed to it.
A good recommendation that I can give to you is that when you are writing a new post for your blog, think about two things:
- The previous post that you will link in your new post.
- The posts that can link to your new post.
By doing this, you will not have orphaned content.
When you write a post on WordPress, generally when you share it on Facebook or Twitter you don’t know which picture Facebook or Twitter will use.
With Yoast SEO Premium you have the option to select the picture you want to use on Facebook and Twitter.
You just need to know the size of the picture for each social media channel:
- Facebook: 1200 x 630px
- Twitter: 1024 x 512px
This is how it looks in the preview for Facebook.
You can even change the Facebook title and description.
For Twitter it is the same; you can change the image, title and description.
This feature is very useful if you share your content on social media.
This is an opinion but I like to work with no ads.
I know that the free version is powerful, but it has ads, and for me it is a distraction.
With Yoast SEO Premium you can work with the plugin free of ads, and for me that is very good. No distractions.
For me Yoast SEO Premium is worth buying. I use all the features mentioned above and I am happy with it.
I think that if you are serious about blogging, Yoast SEO Premium will help you with your SEO efforts.
But remember that Yoast SEO will not do all the search engine optimization work for you; it will only help you with a small part.
